May your prayers come true
May auspiciousness hold you.
Tonight, it is the most auspicious night of the year: Maha Shivratri – the Great night of Śiva.
Tonight is the night of the marriage between Śiva and Śakti/Parvati,
and thus, the night of the alchemical marriage of the masculine and the feminine.
Tonight is the night when Śiva drank the Halāhala poison of the cosmic ocean and held it his throat to save all – he was the only one who could control that which could neither be drunk nor swallowed. Thereby he assisted in the process of bringing amṛta, life elixir, into the world
Tonight is the night when Śiva first manifested himself in the form of a liṅga.
Maha Shivratri is the night when the first yogi awakened his consciousness at the material level of existence.
Worship Śiva tonight,
call out your wishes, state your dedication and your devotion.
But mind your prayers, and be ready to receive!
Śiva is the great consciousness – with witness within all. Śiva is the primal existence behind all forms. Śakti is the divine energy that manifest in worldly form, and the ability to sense and to feel it all. When the two join within, life elixir you will win.
Śivaliṅgamudrā (Look at my hands in the photo: thumb up on a flat palm): It symbolizes the beginning-less and endless stambha, pillar – Śiva as infinity. The mudrā symbolizes cosmic consciousness and masculine generative power. It can help you connect with source. It can strengthen your willpower and it can vitalize your system.
Mantra: Om Namaḥ Śivāya * 108 or 108*108. The mantra is Śiva, and it honors Śiva. It also honors the five elements. By chanting Om Namaḥ Śivāya, you honor universal consciousness, and you celebrate all of existence.
Listen deeply to the voice within,
and to the silence of infinity.
– open to whatever gift you may receive.
